Week 3

This week has been more fun although I didn't go to school as Mummy found a better school which is on a Monday and I start in a week's time! 

But this week I had lots of short walks!

I also went to a coffee shop called Costas and lots of people wanted to cuddle me! I met Auntie Jan and also Auntie Carole who had heard all about me at the gym and couldn't wait to give me lots of loving!

The next day I went to the big playing field near the house and I met a doggy called Harry... our first play date. He was with Auntie Carole and I also met another doggy called Daisy who is 13 years old and I am 13 weeks old but she looks like me and my nanny Phoebe the doggy in Leamington. They live near the field and the lady phoned her husband to come and meet me as I look like Daisy!

I also had a visit this week from Auntie Sue and Kirsty and also Auntie Sandra who drove a long way to meet me!!! I am so loved! I am! And I got too excited with all the people so Mummy gave me a special chew that was a gift but she realised after it was too rich for me and too big (even though they were told it was safe for puppies) but the next day I had a runny tummy so Mummy made me only eat something called chicken for a whole day. I really love chicken I have decided! Really really love chicken!!! 

Friday night and Saturday I had it mixed in with my normal kibble and my poos are normal again now! So now I am not getting just chicken but I want it! Mummy says I might get some if I do my poos and wee wees outside (which I do sometimes) and when I go to school as a special treat! I will have to be a good boy!!!

Saturday I went back to Leigh, and I met the lady in the cafe again:

Then we walked in the park but Mummy carried me quite a lot as she said little legs are not supposed to talk for too long!

New things: a bed for my pen but I do like to chew it!!!

Things I am not keen on:

                     Henry hoover: I hide in my den (crate)

                     Mummy's hair dryer: I also hide in my den!

                    Stealing socks, shoes and undies... actually anything I know I am not meant to have!

                    Sneaking from a lap onto the sofa!

                    Jumping up to try to get on the sofa!

                    Dragging Mummy by the bottom of her nightdress!

                    Running round the garden with the ball.

                    Oh chicken!

                    I love chicken!

No new toys this week but new treat box which is where the chew came from but Mummy says I have to wait to be a big boy before I can have any more :(

An exciting second week

So much has happened! So much! So much!

I have been here two weeks and I am so happy.

Finding where Mummy and Daddy have moved the linen basket to to steal underwear!

This week Mummy has blocked all the ways to get under the sofa and I chewed and broken the zip under there! And it was my hiding place when I do something naughty! Mummy says soon I will be too big to fit under anyway!

Toilet Training:

I do wee wees and poos outside if Mummy takes me out there. I get a treat. Not sure why she praises me so much and she doesn't when I do it on my puppy pad inside! I think I am meant to learn something but not sure what it is yet! But I am only 13 weeks old!

Food: 

I am now on 217 g of Puppy food a day! Royal Canin Medium Puppy, in three meals but I don't eat it all in one go, I go back to it as I get distracted! But on Saturday Mummy changed it and is mixing in the same food as meat so I get less dry food and I like that better! I eat all of that on one go!

New people I met: 

I met Auntie Kim and saw Auntie Sue again and saw Nanny and Grandad. 

I also met the lady and her doggy over the road.

And lots of people at the weekend!

Best bit of the week?

On Saturday we went in the car, I sat on Mummy's lap in the back, and then next to her, and she carried me into a big shop with lots of exciting smells!!! Then a nice lady put a blue harness on me and Mummy bought a car seat and lots of other things!

We went back in the car and we drove to a place called Leigh and I got to have my first walk! It was soooooo exciting!!! The first place we went was a cafe and I got lots of cuddles and then fell asleep under the table. I was such a good boy! Then we went in the park and walked around a few times and I met children! I so wanted to play with the big dogs but none of them wanted to meet me!

Mummy carried me back to the car and I slept on the way home. And then slept a lot!

The next day I had a walk round to Nanny and Grandad's. It was so exciting!

Today I am excited people someone else called Charlie is here and he  is painting the kitchen so I will be in my pen all day. Though Mummy and Daddy are taking me for a walk into town later to go to another cafe!

I was really tired when I got home. Mummy carried me back to the car.

My First Full Week: September, 2026

What fun! What fun! Everything is so much fun!

I am now living on an island... I don't know what it is but I like it.

I have a new mummy and daddy and lots of toys.

Hide under the sofa and chew the zips!

Chew on wires in puppy-proof cable protectors: so far has stopped fairy lights working and video ring light. Mummy has ordered tape to fix!

Chew people's arms, legs, feet ... always shown a toy to play with instead!

Chew clothes... you guessed it distracted with a toy... they think I don't know but I am very clever!

Steal socks and dirty washing!

I come running from wherever I am in the house when Mummy opens the drawer on my crate where the treats are kept.

Mummy won't let me have human food to try (yet) but she hid my worming pill in something called cheese and I loved it! Like really couldn't believe how much!

I am a good boy and wee and poo on puppy pads but Mummy has a plan and is trying to make me do it outside. I only did it once so far!

What I did this week

Saturday: first day in my new home. Loved it and was very brave and very good! I soon found all my toys!

Sunday: Woke up at 5 am and Mummy slept on sofa near me in my crate! Played a lot! Went in the garden for the first time, supervised! Lots of cuddles and games! Learned when Mummy opens the drawer I get a treat. I met Nanny and Grandad!

Monday: I was left for an hour and I did cry but evenutally settled! Lots of fun!

Tuesday: More fun! Mummy and Daddy went out and I did cry but I wasn't left for long! Discovered other rooms in the house!

Wednesday: I learned how to escape my cage when they went out but found the linen basket instead and slept there!

Thursday: I went to the vets, I met Auntie Sue and Auntie Kirsty who took me in the car. I was very quiet and very good! I met Calum the vet who loved me as I am like his dog Herbie who is the same as me! An orange roan cocker spaniel! I also met his wife the nurse, Nina, and Karen and other nurses and I was so chilled I slept on the table and hardly noticed when they gave me a jab!

Friday: Mummy had bought a puppy cam thingy and could see I was good and slept in my pen for an hour when she was at the gym but then was howling until she came home! I met Auntie Joanne who bought me Louis bear!

Saturday: I was very good and slept when they went out for an hour and a half!

Next weekend Mummy and Daddy are taking me out for the first time! I am going to be fitted for something called a harness and then we are going out to one of their favourite places to play!

Let the Adventure Begin: Debz's Post

Hello, everyone! This is Charlie's mummy and I am here to tell you more about Charlie. I did promise this last week but I needed to get him settled in and I think a weekend post for a while with his milestones that week will be a fun way to do this. This post is his background and how he came to be with us and then he will tell you about his first week!

After losing our beautiful blue roan Rosie on 19th February, 2026, four months shy of her sixteenth birthday, there was a gaping hole in our lives. She did everything with us, holidays, Saturdays out, stays with our friends... although these things had slowed down when she went blind and deaf. We knew it would be her last Christmas, but nothing truly prepares you for goodbye. We have left memory stones in all her favourite places. I always knew we would welcome a new little soul. I had initially thought about rescuing, as I am a firm believer in that, but Rosie's death made me realise how much I wanted another cocker spaniel and one I would know their entire life. We never had children so these are our children. It felt right for us. Having always known Rosie would come to and knowing her before she did, I felt I needed that again.

We had a breeder in mind we found on Champdogs and invested emotionally in waiting for a puppy from her, but life had other plans. Instead, within moments of knowing it wasn't happening the way we planned, very sad litter news... there was Charlie's face on another page. I must have looked at the page before as I received alerts on Champdogs, but I always felt I had to stay loyal. The one I had been talking to for months. But here he was. Charlie was the first puppy chosen in his litter... but second thoughts  last minute and he was available again. He wasn't instantly ours as someone else was viewing him almost right after I messaged and spoke with the breeder, telling her what had happened. I was sure the other people would have him, so tried not to raise my hopes... again... and then the news came!They were unsure as had not had a puppy before... he was to be ours!

We had decorated the house after Rosie's death: more therapy for me than anything else. We were ready...

I had created an AI vision of how I wanted the living room to look and even put a puppy in the photo. I looked at that every day. It was my phone screensaver. Now the real one is instead!

I am a believer that things happen they way they are supposed to and there are a number of things that make me absoutely certain Charlie is who we were supposed to find all this time. I think I had even seen his face on my Champdog alerts but it took a nudge from universe to make it happen:)

Last Friday (August 28th) we drove to near Stratfod-upon-Avon (a good place for a writer!) and had some time together before staying in a lovely AirBnb twenty minutes away from there and also twenty minutes away from where Charlie was near Royal Leamington Spa.

Love at first sight!

He came home securely in a cat basket behind the passenger seat and I safely navigated from the back seat. What a good boy he was!

He was such a good boy and kept looking at me. And when he arrived as he told you in his first post he was so happy wagging and strutting.

Before he tells you about his first week which he will do tomorrow... I want to give you some background on his furry family :) He also had Sarah and Laura who raised him so well. What a lovely start in life they gave him and I hope to always stay in touch with them. They gave us everything we needed and shared videos of him every day before we went to collect him! We are so so grateful to them.
